Anti-diuretic hormone causes the kidneys to retain water, excrete sodium and retain potassium. Aldosterone has the opposite effect of constricting blood vessels and elevating blood pressure. Glucocorticoids and mineralcorticoids released by the adrenal cortex counteract the function of the antidiuretic hormone. Glucocorticoids also control sugar levels - insipidus diabetic consideration.
